A 363 metre Three Kings cake weighing 1,467 kilos was produced in Lorca, Murcia province, on Sunday, beating by 100 kilos the record which was previously held by Houston to become the biggest Roscón de Reyes in the world. Its size was verified for Guinness World Records before it was split up into 13,000 portions and distributed to the crowd who had gathered in Lorca to witness the record-breaking attempt.

But Lorca’s distinction was lost only a few hours later when Mexico City smashed the record with a monster of a Roscón which was laid out in a city centre square on Sunday: 10,000 kilos of Roscón de Reyes stretching out for 720 metres.

250,000 people had a taste of the record-breaking cake.
