The famous boots worn by Andrés Iniesta for the shot which took Barcelona into the final of the Champions League have raised the money which a sick boy from Murcia needs for vital treatment in the United States. Five year old Javier from Caravaca de la Cruz suffers cerebral palsy and needs treatment in Philadelphia every six months; the boots were raffled in December, raising enough money to cover Javier’s trips to the U.S. for the next five years.

La Verdad reports that the treatment and journey together cost around 10,000 € each time.

The boots have yet to find a new owner, however, as the rules for the raffle were that the coveted prize would go to the holder of the ticket whose number coincided with the top prize in the ONCE lottery draw for 18th Decemeber. That ticket was unsold, and it’s understood a new draw for another winning number will take place on 22nd January.
