Aminatu Haidar back in Spain
Just a month and two days after her return to her home in El Aaiún, the administrative capital of the Western Sahara, the human rights activist Aminatu Haidar is back on the Canaries. She flew to the Gando airport in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to be met by President of the Federation of the Institutions in Solidarity with the Sahara, Carmelo Ramírez and her lawyer, Inés Miranda.
During her month at home she has been kept under effective house arrest by the Moroccan authorities and she has returned to Spain for a medical check up which she will have in Madrid later this week.
Sources say that it is routine, but a check is needed after her 32 day long hunger strike which she started after being expelled from El Aaiún by the Moroccan authorities on November 14.
