Helicopters being used to distribute food and water on the Canaries
Helicopters have been used today, Wednesday, to take food and water to areas of Tenerife after the storms of Monday and Tuesday battered the Canary Islands.
Both the Valle Brosque and Valle Crispín areas are isolated by road, and while strong winds continue in the archipelago, residents have been advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the south of Tenerife were worst affected by the storm described by some observers as ‘tropical’.
President of the Canary Island Government, Paulino Rivero, has meanwhile called for better weather forecasts to give more warning of such events.
