Air traffic controllers guarantee Easter flights to the Canaries
The Spanish Air Traffic Controllers, currently in dispute with the Spanish Airport Authority, AENA, has said that the public can reserve their Easter flights in ‘total security’ as they gave an undertaking not to disrupt flights over the holiday.
The guarantee was given by Miguel Torrens, the spokesman for the controllers’ union. He spoke of an ‘attempt to trick public opinion and generate confusion in a inexistent dispute’.
There was particular concern on the Canary Islands which saw some disruption on flights over Christmas, blamed on the controllers, who in turn complained of a lack of staff.
Meanwhile the talks between the two sides on the wage round have now broken down.
