The Formula One circus arrives in Jerez
It will be as if the clock has be turned back on the Jerez racetrack today as four days practice gets underway ahead of the new Formula One season, and with most attention focussed on the old rivals Fernando Alonso, now with Ferrari, and Michael Schumacher with Mercedes.
Alonso was fastest in practice last week at Cheste in Valencia, and now has more time to make improvements to the new F10 car.
He is expected to be on the track today and Thursday, while Schumacher will be on the track on Thursday and Saturday, so tomorrow is the day to go if you want to see both of the two rivals.
Ten teams are racing this week, McLaren, Ferrari, Sauber, Renault, Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Williams, Force India-Mercedes GP and Virgin GP.
There will be more practice at Jerez next week from Wednesday to Saturday when Lotus will also join the party.
Tickets to attend the practice sessions cost five or general entry and ten for the VIP stand, right opposite the boxes. Gates open 10am and testing ends each day at 5pm.
