Jerez is to employ teams of the unemployed for the big clean up of homes following the flooding in the town this weekend.

News of the plan has been revealed by the President of the Junta de Andalucía, José Antonio Griñán, who noted that between 80 and 90 families were evacuated from their homes over the weekend.

The City Hall is to open an office today for those who have been affected by the water so they can claim compensation.

Meanwhile the rain has been continuing in Jerez today, Monday.
The airport is now open, having been closed for most of Friday and for a time on Sunday, and road and rail traffic to the town is now restored.

The rainfall in Andalucía has been such this winter that the water supply is now guaranteed for the region for the next three years.
