Goodbye on the beach for the Martins
There will be an adios on the beach to Christopher and Christine Martin, the British couple who died on Monday night when the roof of a friends cortijo fell in while they were watching television.
The bodies of the pensioners will be placed tomorrow, Thursday, in the tanatorio at La Mamola, the coastal village on the Costa Tropical which had become their home, and where they were loved by both Spanish and foreign locals.
The funeral takes place at 5pm Thursday evening in the Iglesia de la Asunción.
On Friday their ashes, after being cremated in Almería, will be scattered on the beach at La Mamola at 5pm by their daughter. The local choir, Aires del Sur, has asked to sing during the scattering of the ashes.
Flags in Polopos-La Mamola have been flying at half mast and the Mayor, Pedro García, has declared three days of official mourning and cancelled the events planned to celebrate the Day of Andalucía.
