Polop Councillor, Pilar Villanueva, resigns
The ex second Deputy Mayor of Polop de la Marina, Pilar Villaueva from the PP, has presented her resignation as a councillor in the town. She has also been the councillor responsible for the environment and education upto now.
Municipal sources told EFE news agency that a letter arrived first thing on Friday morning, and an extraordinary council meeting will be called in the next few days as a result.
It comes just three months after the PP ex Mayor, Juan Cano, was jailed for his alleged implication in the shooting dead of his predecessor, Alejandro Ponsoda, it’s claimed over a real estate deal.
The municipality has six PP councillors, three GdP independents, and two from the Valencian Socialist Party.
