A thousand kilos of cocaine has been found hidden in frozen fruit pulp in Pamplona. The drug had its origin in Colombia and a joint operation between the National Police and the Agencia Tributaria resulted in the arrest of seven people.

Part of the police operation took place in Mijas, Málaga and Alicante.

The drugs has an estimated value of 30 million € on the black market and was in a refrigerated container which left Buenaventura in Colombia on December 12 2009. The container travelled down the Panama Canal and entered Spain first at Algeciras where it was transferred to another ship which took the cargo on to Bilbao.

The barrels of pulp were then taken to Álava and then to a warehouse rented by the traffickers in Viana, Navarra.
Police think the drugs were set to be distributed across Europe from Spain.
