Three tigers shot dead after seven escape from Canary Island Zoo
The Guardia Civil killed three out of seven tigers which escaped on Tuesday morning from the Cocodrilo Park Zoo at Agüimes, Gran Canaría.
The animals escaped because of the ‘negligence’ of a keeper who was cleaning their cage. The animals remained close to the boundaries of the park without crossing the security fence.
25 Guardia Civil and five Local Police were forced to shoot dead the three animals after the owner of the Zoo admitted that he did not have enough tranquiliser darts. The remaining four animals were returned safely to their cage.
