Eight more arrests on Lanzarote as real estate irregularities continue
A further eight people have been arrested in Lanzarote in connection with town planning abuses, taking the total number of people detained in the case to 16.
UCO specialist agents from the Guardia Civil made the arrests as part of the ‘Operación Jable’. The arrests include the ex Mayor of Arrecife, María Isabel Déniz, who is already in prison on remand together with the Chief Engineer from the Town Hall Technical Office, Juan Rafael Arrocha, and a technician from the Urbaser cleaning company, Jacinto Álvarez.
Five others in the first wave of arrests have been granted bail, with charges remaining.
