Three immigrant boats reach the coast of Cartagena
The improvement in the weather has brought a rush of immigrants trying to reach Spain’s shores illegally. Three more patera small boats with 38 Algerians were intercepted off the coast of Cartagena on Wednesday night.
They are all adult males and the first boat was first spotted by the SIVE high tech system at 1730 when 12 miles to the south of Cabo Tiñoso. They were intercepted just under two hours later when 7 miles off shore, and two further boats were found to be following.
It’s the first immigrant arrival on the Murcia coast since January, probably because of the bad weather since the winter.
