Dexter, a dog which went missing in November last year in Málaga, has now appeared in Sant Boi in Cataluña. The discovery by the Mataró Animal Protection Society (SPAM) has left its members wide mouthed.

Nobody has any idea how the animal covered the some 1,000 kilometres, and the animal carried a chip which was not registered in the Catalan region.

Despite his new found fame, the couple who owned him in Málaga, who are in the process of separation, say they undecided whether to keep him and bring him back south. If they decide not to keep the animal they have to pay 624 € to sign the correct documentation which will allow Dexter to be adopted.

If the payment is not made in 20 days, the law obliges the municipality, in this case Mataró, to denounce the owners for abandonment.
