An employee at a petrol station located on the A92 road near Loja, Granada, has been arrested after a micro-camera was found hidden in a plastic cup which recorded women using the toilets of the establishment.

The 43 year old man is reported to have admitted his guilt and faces charges of crimes against privacy.

Investigations in the case started on June 19 when a member of the public who used the disabled toilet noticed the camera hidden in one the plastic cups used to serve coffee, hidden under some papers in the corner of the bathroom. She took the camera directly to the Guardia Civil barracks in nearby Huétor Tájar, and when they said it appeared recordings were being made in the toilet, she decided to make an official complaint.

The Guardia Civil found three recordings in the memory chip of the device, dating from June 16,18, and 19, and after talking to the petrol station owner made the arrest of one of the employees.

They fear that many more women could have been recorded but have no way of proving it because when they examined the arrested man’s computer all the files had been erased.
