35 arrested in operation against copper cable thieves in Cádiz
The Guardia Civil has arrested 35 people in connection with the theft of copper wire and tubing which had been sold on to international market.
The operation took place in Cádiz and adjoining provinces and more arrests have not been ruled out.
The Guardia Civil say that they have been working on the case for two months, and that they have searched as many as 30 scrap yards in the province of Cádiz, both legal and illegal, and that 66,000 kilos of cable has been recovered. Searches were also carried out on Wednesday in some industrial warehouses in Jerez de la Frontera.
