11 arrests against Galician drug trafficking clan
Police have swooped again against the drug trafficking clans based in the Galicia region of Spain ad have arrested 11 alleged members of the Los Charlines.
The 78 year old head of the clan, Manuel Charlin Gama, who is about to leave prison after serving 20 years on drug trafficking and money laundering charges, was arrested again in jail. Three of his children were also arrested in the operation.
The economic crime brigade of the National Police and members of the Agencia Tributaria made the 11 new arrests on Monday and those detained face charges of money laundering, fiscal fraud and bribery. They have been discretely investigating the cases for the past three years in an investigation directed by Court 3 in Vilagarcia and the Special Anti-drug prosecutor in Pontevedra, Luis Uriarte.
Several businesses both in and outside the family were also searched on Monday.
