Madrid Metro strike action is called off
Two assemblies of morning and evening shift workers from the Madrid Metro on, Monday, provisionally ratified the deal reached between management and unions on Saturday, and called off further strike action. The end of the strike got 68.3% support in the workers’ vote.
The principle of an agreement reached by both sides is a 1% wage cut for workers, instead of the 5% originally envisaged, with the shortfall to be made up in savings from other areas. The wage cut is back-dated to this month’s wages.
Training, a night-time restructuring, overtime and other extras are set to be cut as a result.
The agreement comes after several weeks of disruption.
