12 year old dies in beach accident in Castelló d'Empúries
A 12 year old Swizz child died on Friday afternoon when a tunnel in the sand, which he had built with his brothers on a beach in Girona, collapsed and buried him alive.
The Mossos d’Esquadra received the call from the local police in Castelló d’Empúries at 3,30pm. The local lifeguard and emergency services failed in their attempts to reanimate the child.
The tragedy happened in an area of dunes on a windy beach often used by windsurfers.
