Socialist Mayor of Villanueva del Trabuco found not guilty of corruption
The Socialist mayor of Villanueva del Trabuco, in Málaga, Antonio Vegas Morales, has been found not guilty of real estate perversion of the course of justice.
The magistrate in Penal Court 9 in Málaga considered that the Mayor was not aware of the illegality in the awarding of a licence in the municipality in 1999.
The Mayor had granted the licence backed by a technical report from the municipality. A change in 1996 which considered the land involved as non-buildable was never actually published in the Official Provincial Bulletin.
The judge ruled that no illegality was intended or committed.
