Michelle Obama to holiday in Marbella
The wife of the President of the United States, Michelle Obama, and one of their daughters nine year old Sasha, will spend part of their summer holidays in Marbella.
Initial reports were that the President and his entire family are coming but an anonymous statement later from the White House, reported by El Mundo, confirmed only the presence of Michelle and Sasha, saying the President would be remaining in the United States. 12 year old Malia will be on a summer camp during the period.
The visit will be from August 4 – 8 in the luxury Villapadierna Hotel, where 35 rooms have been reserved for family and friends.
There were earlier reports that the President would travel to the Marivent Palace on Mallorca to meet with King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, and also meet with the Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, at some point, but this now seems unlikely.
Government sources quoted by El Mundo, while failing to confirm the news, said if it were to happen it would be a ‘clear demonstration of the excellent relations currently between Spain and the United States.
