21 year old British woman victim of fatal hit and run on Ibiza
A 21 year old British woman has been killed in a hit and run accident outside a discotec on Ibiza.
It happened at 3.25am in the early hours of Monday morning outside the Es Paradís disco in San Antoni de Portmany.
Reports indicate the victim was crossing the road just a short distance away from a zebra crossing. The driver sped off, but the 24 year old was detained a few hours later and tested positive for both alcohol and drugs.
Despite the efforts of the emergency services the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver will appear in court shortly.
The local Town Hall has sent a message of condolence to the British Consulate and also the family of the victim who was on holiday on the island.
In a separate incident at the same time, another 24 year old driver lost his life when he drove his car into a tree on the road between Sant Joan and Sant Llorenç in Ibiza.
