Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, has announced that he will not be taking any summer break in August this year, apart from two quick weekend getaways when he will go with his family to León and visit the Quintos de Mora finca in Toledo.

He will spend most of the month in the Moncloa Palace in Madrid, watching the evolution of the economic data and preparing the new legislature where he will face complications in getting his budgets for next year through Congress.

He is expected to meet journalists on Friday, after the regular weekly cabinet meeting, to give his summary of the first six months of the year and his perspectives for the next few months.

Zapatero will travel to visit the King, who is at the Marivent Palce on Mallorca, on August 11, although this year there is no official dinner planned with the monarchs as is the norm.

The cabinet is also to be called back for an extraordinary meeting on August 20 before the Prime Minister heads off on an official trip to China and Japan at the end of the month.
