Raul González signs for Schalke 04
Raul González who said goodbye to Real Madrid on Monday this week has now signed for German club Schalke 04. He has signed a two year contract which will bring him just under six million € net.
The 33 year old was presented at his new club on Wednesday afternoon after undergoing a medical, and has now worn his new blue number ‘7’ shirt for the first time – the same number he had at Real Madrid and in the Spanish national side.
A statement from the club described him as ‘an exceptional footballer, and a world class striker’, and said that his presence would be crucial in strengthening and restructuring the team for the future.
Raúl said that he’d love to play against Madrid, describing his move as ‘an important challenge’ which he hoped that all the fans would enjoy.
He’s expected to train with the club on Friday and play his first game on Saturday.
