Juan Antonio Roca assets start to be sold off
The sale of seven vehicles from Juan Antonio Roca’s private collection has raised just under 400,000 € which will be spent to pay his debts under the control of the Provincial Court in Málaga.
The ex Municipal Real Estate Assessor from Marbella Town Hall, who is the main accused in the Malaya case which comes to court in September, faces numerous debts including 8.3 million € to Hacienda and large amounts to several banks.
The sale took place on Wednesday in the Málaga court where closed envelopes bids were accepted, and the money raised totalled 398,500 €. The sale proceeded with the agreement of the accused.
Only seven of the 15 cars up for sale were actually sold, all of them Mercedes, and the most expensive a Gulf Wing which reached 200,000 €.
Roca has also authorised his art collection to be sold off by Sothebys, where it is expected to reach 27 million € and there is also an offer in place for 850,000 € for his helicopter.
The court calculates that Roca spent more than 136 million € between 1997 and 2005 on real estate alone.
