Woody Allen back promoting Asturias
Woody Allen is proving that Oviedo and Asturias is one of his favourite places and is back in town to take part in a new promotional campaign for the region.
The United States film director will be presenting his new film ‘You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger’ in the Niemeyer cultural centre in Avilés today, Tuesday, on what is his fifth visit to the area. The film opens across the country on Friday and stars Antonio Banderas.
Allan, who first visited the area in 2002 to be presented with the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts, has also taken part in the presentation of the latest tourism promotion campaign, and recommended people visit Asturias, ‘to avoid the ugly in the world’.
The 74 year old has no plans to move from New York or retire, but says that should he do so ‘Asturias is one of the few places in the world’ which could interest him. He has praised the local gastronomy and noted that culture plays a large part in the lives of the local people.
