British woman seriously injured when Marbella hotel boiler explodes
A British woman in her 50’s is in a serious condition in hospital after a hot water boiler exploded in a Marbella hotel. She and three other people who were injured, all guests of the Cortijo Blanco Hotel in San Pedro Alcántara, were walking in the street when the explosion happened.
It appears that a pipe running close to Calle Antonio Machado burst when the pressure of the hot water rose too high.
It happened at 0930 on Monday morning and two of those hurt, another British woman and a 52 year old man, have already been allowed out of the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella.
The most seriously hurt woman has head injuries and first and second degree burns to 20% of her body, and was transferred by helicopter to the Carlos Haya Hospital in Málaga where she is on assisted breathing.
