Another British fugitive arrested in Marbella
One of Britain’s most wanted, 61 year old James Walter Tomkins has been arrested in Marbella after a four year manhunt.
He was arrested at 1600 CET on Wednesday, outside his home in Puerto Banús, after jumping over the back fence when he saw the approaching police. Spanish National Police specialist UDYCO teams from Madrid, Málaga and Marbella took part in the operation.
Tomkins was wanted, under a European arrest warrant, in connection with the high profile murder of Rocky Dawson in a drive-by shooting in Hornchurch, Essex in 2006.
British ambassador to Spain, Giles Paxman, has thanked the Spanish police for their collaboration in the arrest of ‘one of Britain’s most wanted fugitives in Spain’. He noted the close collaboration under the ‘Captura’ operation was continuing to be a success, now with 35 of the 50 most wanted found and arrested.
