TRE Outside Broadcast: The team visit The Sunborn Gibraltar Yacht Hotel
On Monday some of the TRE team re-visited the yacht hotel – for the first time without having to navigate the border crossing!
…and we hosted some very special guests!
Fabian Picardo shared his thoughts on the historic UK-EU Gibraltar Agreement, which led to the official removal of routine land border controls and the physical fence between Gibraltar and Spain on July 15th 2026, as well as a review of the ascent of Gibraltar as a business and tourist hub over the past decades…and some interesting personal insights.
General Manager of Morrison’s Gibraltar, Eva Wallace, gave us a fascinating insight into the challenges, particularly logistical, of running a UK supermarket 1400 miles away from the UK mainland! With particular focus on the inevitable changes which have had to be made, to accommodate the new rules and regulations resulting from the border removal between Gibraltar and Spain
