Italy is extending border checks on travellers arriving from Spain for another 15 days.
The controls at Italian airports and ports were first introduced in August, following the mass arrival of migrants in Ceuta.
Italy says the latest extension is aimed at strengthening European border protection and preventing possible security and terrorist threats.
The checks are random and apply to travellers arriving from Spain.
Spain has responded by imposing the same controls on people arriving from Italy, currently until the eighth of October.Partido Popular says it will vote against the Government’s two new housing decrees when they go before Congress tomorrow.
PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo says the measures are incompatible, arguing that one decree provides for compulsory extensions of rental contracts until 2028, while another introduces indefinite extensions.
The Government disputes that interpretation and says the measures are designed to provide greater protection for tenants.
The two decrees will be voted on in Congress on Friday.

Heavy rain is expected across eastern areas from today, with the worst conditions forecast for parts of the Mediterranean coast.
AEMET says very heavy and persistent showers could affect parts of Valencia, northern Alicante, Castellón, Tarragona, Lleida, Teruel and Cuenca. Some areas could see more than 150 millimetres of rain in less than six hours.
The agency warns that the situation could cause sudden flooding in low-lying areas, streams and ravines, with unsettled weather expected to continue into the weekend.

Spain’s new cycling rules, come into force today
The new regulations includetougher new rules for car drivers overtaking cyclists, more flexibility for riders out on the road, and  tighter rules on wearing helmets.
Anyone under-16, or who rides a bike for their job, must use a helmet at all times and on all roads, while over-16s are only obligated to do so on intra-urban (rural) roads.
One of the major rule changes are the ones pertaining to drivers overtaking riders. They must still give the rider 1.5m space while overtaking, but must now slow to 20kph below the speed limit on rural roads as they do so; as well as hang back “at least” five metres from the rider until they choose to make the manoeuvre.
Cyclists can now take the primary position and ride in the centre of the lane. This makes the cyclist more visible to drivers, makes their movements more predictable, and discourages risky overtakes.
