Marbella 4Days Walking 2022 is extremely popular!
MARBELLA. More than 1.500 walkers have already signed up for the 11th edition of Marbella 4Days Walking. With three months to go till the start in October, this is 50% more than usual. The organizers expect at least 2.500 participants from around the world for this annual walking event.
This year’s edition of Marbella 4Days Walking takes place from the 6th to the 9th of October. Walkers from 31 countries come to Marbella for a walking holiday and to enjoy the after-parties. Each day they discover a different part of the city and its’ surroundings while walking a route of 10, 20 or 30 kilometres.
Boost in participation
The amount of walkers has grown steadily during the last editions. This year there is a peak in the sign-ups compared to the past editions. Before the summer, usually about 1.000 participants would have already registered. More than 1.500 persons have now signed up for the 2022 edition. According to the new event director Arabella M. Wessels, this can only be attributed to the fact that people are eager to travel and have great experiences again. “Over the years, our event has become known to a big audience, and many people come back with their families and friends. This year we see a huge increase in groups of friends who want to enjoy a week or weekend of fun and sports. They ask us about the best beaches, the local gastronomy and where to party to make the most of their holiday.”
Amongst the nationalities who signed up, the top countries at the moment are The Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and Germany. But walkers from Japan, Mexico and Lithuania, have already signed up as well. The average age of the participantes is between 35 and 65.
Routes experiences
Walkers can sign up for the number of days they want to participate and choose between 10, 20 or 30 kilometres. The routes all have their names: the Playa Route, Vistas Route, Verde Route and Lago Route. Even though the event is categorized as ‘urban walking’, some routes are on tracks through nature or on the beach.
Walking and dancing
Marbella 4Days Walking is not only about walking but also a party. The start from the Walking Village at the Plaza del Mar is accompanied by live music; when the walkers return, it is fiesta time. They meet up with friends and family to share a drink and dance to the music of several live artists and DJs.
